Last updated: August 2026

1. Acceptance

By downloading or using HELM you agree to these Terms of Use. If you do not agree, do not use the app.

2. Study Aid — Not a Guarantee

HELM is a study aid only. Its sixteen modules are mapped to the MCA OOW (Yachts) <3000gt syllabus and draw on IMO conventions and STCW requirements. It is designed to help you prepare for that certificate of competency and to serve as an offline bridge reference.

HELM is exam preparation mapped to the MCA syllabus. It is not an official MCA product and is not endorsed by the Maritime and Coastguard Agency. We make no guarantee that using HELM will result in passing any examination. Always verify content against current official MCA publications and qualified instructors.

Azimuth Systems Ltd accepts no liability for exam outcomes, operational decisions, or actions taken based on content presented in HELM. Content is for study only and must not be used for operational navigation.

3. AI Features Disclaimer

The AI Oral Examiner uses large language models to generate questions, grading and feedback. AI-generated content may be incomplete, inaccurate, or out of date. It is not a substitute for qualified instruction or a real MCA oral examination, and its verdict and your readiness score have no bearing on your actual exam result. Do not rely on AI responses for safety-critical decisions at sea.

You must be 13 or older to use the AI Oral Examiner. By using it you confirm you are at least 13 years old.

AI Oral Examiner practice in HELM is subject to fair-use limits on the number of examiner sessions per day and per calendar month. These limits exist to keep the service available and affordable for everyone; they are set generously for normal exam preparation, and we may raise them at any time. We will give notice here before reducing them.
